1. What is IVF?

In-Vitro Fertilization: This is usually the last step towards the treatment of infertility. This process takes out the entire process of the sperm having to find the egg, fertilize it and then find its way to implant in the uterus. Instead a doctor will extract the eggs and fertilize them them before placing them directly into the uterus.

2. Why are you pursuing IVF?

We are pursuing IVF because of my condition: Endometriosis. Stage 4 in Endometriosis lowers our chances of conceiving on our own to 2-3% per month. Normal couples have a 25% chance per month. With IVF, our chance will be 65%!

3. What is the cost of one cycle of IVF?

The base price of the procedure is $6,500. The price of the medicine can vary between $3,000 - $4,000. This makes a total of $10,500. Our clinic recommends getting $11,000 to ensure all costs are covered.  Please read this post about how our situation has changed because of the progression of my endometriosis and how it as affected my ovaries.  Our total cost, as of November 15th, has gone up to $14,600.  You can see the breakdown here.

4.  What agency are you using for IVF?

After searching and interviewing several agencies, we found our fit with the Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida.
